Admission Criteria for BCA

BSc., Computer Science and BCA syllabi had been framed and executed since from the academic year 2005 – 2006 and 2007 – 2008, respectively. After completion of 5 years of tenure and in tune with the industrial requirements, the Board of Studies has felt that, both the BSc Computer Science and BCA (Degree) syllabi has to be revised and put in to the effect from the academic year 2013-2014.

 

  1. Eligibility for Admission (for BCA only): Those candidates who have successfully completed +2 or PU or equivalent with Mathematics/Computer Science/Business Mathematics/Accountancy OR 3 years Diploma after SSLC/10th Class with Computer Science Engineering/Information Science Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Duration of the Course: This is a 3 years program split into 6 semesters each of duration 4 months.  However, the maximum duration permitted is 6 years from the date of admission as per the double the duration norm of the University of Mysore.
  3. Attendance requirement, progress and conduct: As per the existing norms of the University of Mysore for other Bachelors’ degree programme.
  4. Hours of instructions/week: Shown in the Tables.
  5. Titles of papers/practicals etc: Shown in the Tables.
  6. Scheme of Examination/Assessment:  Shown in the Tables.
  7. Minima for a pass in each paper and aggregate and condition for promotion to next higher class:  A candidate has to get a minimum of 40% in every paper (Including IA). However a candidate has to obtain a minimum of 28 out of 80 in the semester-end examination in every paper.  Examination will be conducted for both odd and even semesters at the end of every semester. The complete carryover system is permitted except when the candidate is detained for the attendance requirement. However before the candidate enters the 6th semester, the candidate should have completed all papers up to the end of 4th semester successfully and before submitting the final project report, the candidate should have completed all semesters up to the end of 5th semester.
  8. Classification of the successful candidates: Based on the sum total of the marks secured in all successfully completed papers from all six semesters, class will be awarded.
  1. If the sum total mark is equal to or more than 70% of the aggregate then the candidate is placed in Distinction class.
  2. If the sum total mark is equal to or more than 60% and less than 70% then the candidate is placed in First class.
  3. If the sum total mark is equal to or more than 50% and less than 60 % then the candidate is placed in Second class.
  4. Remaining successful candidates are placed in Pass class.
  5. Transitory Provision: Not applicable.
  6. Fee structure: As decided by the University of Mysore / Government from time to time.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Any candidate who has passed two- year Pre-University Course of Karnataka State or any other Examination recognized as equivalent is eligible for admission to six semester Degree Programmes.

Candidates seeking admission to B.Sc. Degree programme should have studied at least two Science subjects as electives at the Pre-University level.

Rules for Admission.

1. All admissions are provisional and subject to approval by the University of Mysore.
2. Admission of candidates is made on the basis of marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination.
3. Admissions are made on the condition that students will abide by the rules and regulations of the college.
4. Admissions are made on a year-to-year basis. Students are required to get themselves admitted for the Second / Third year at the beginning of each academic year to continue their studies
in the college.
5. Students become eligible for promotion to the next class after satisfying conditions such as required percentage of attendance, academic progress and good conduct.
6. The Principal reserves the right of admission.
7. Documents necessary for admission
a) Completely filled application form.
b) 4 copies of recent passport size colour photographs.
c) Three photocopies of Income certificate/Caste certificate duly attested by a Gazetted Officer (original certificates shall be produced at the time of admission), if applicable.
d) Original Marks card of the qualifying examination along with an attested copy.
8. Candidates once admitted cannot claim refund of fees paid.
9. Students with undesirable antecedents, improper conduct will not be allowed to get admission to the next class.
10.Parents (Guardians if parents are not alive) accompanying the student is mandatory at the time of admission.

Overseas and Non-Karnataka Students

Candidates from foreign countries seeking admission to I, II and III Degree programmes are required to produce Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Mysore, besides valid student visa and passport.
Candidates from other States seeking admission to I, II and III Degree programmes are required to produce Migration Certificate from the Board / University where they studied last and Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Mysore.Fee Payable: As per University norms.

As per G.O. No. 595 dated 1-9-1995, students whose family income is not more than Rs. 11,000/- per annum irrespective of the community or caste to which they belong will be exempted from payment of Tuition, Laboratory and Examination Fees. Online submission : E Applications can be downloaded from the web-site and submitted. However, this should be followed by hard copy for being considered for actual admission.

Important notes

  1. Students are expected to come to college 5 minutes before the bell.
  2. Students are expected to be present in the college for the entire duration of classes. Prior permission of the Principal should be taken by the students to leave the college in between. Permission will be given only after consulting the parents.
  3. Free periods, if any, will be productively enagaged either in AVC or through other means. Students are expected to be seated in their respective classes till such arrangements are made.
  4. Students are expected to co-operate with teachers in the smooth conduct of the classes.
  5. Class teachers are in charge of classes and the class teacher is bestowed with the authority and responsibility of a care taker of the class.
