Master of Tourism Administration

About the course

In the backdrop of the above scenario the college has today launched the course keeping the spirit of tourism in mind as the guiding factor. MTA is a five year integrated course in Tourism leading to Master of Tourism Administration. However, an exit option is given to the students at the end of the 3rd year when a degree in Bachelor of Tourism Administration is awarded. All those who have passed Karnataka PUC or its equivalence with a minimum of 50% of marks in any discipline is eligible to take up this course. It is a multi disciplinary course wherein the student studies different subjects like History, Archaeology, Tourism Geography, Accounting and Finance, Travel and Tourism, Computer Application, E-Commerce, Food and Beverage Management, Functional English etc. besides one foreign language. 

Career Opportunities


Tourism is sunrise industry. It is growing very rapidly and thereby creating a large number of employment opportunities. The college has a separate Career Guidance and Placement Cell. This cell functions the gap between the curriculum and expected industry front, by holding career-oriented lecturers by Senior Managers and successful consultants. It also arranges for companies to recruit students on campus, facilitating pre-placement talks, written tests, group discussions and interviews. The following are the areas where the tourism professionals can be employed.
1. Becoming an entrepreneur by starting own enterprise in any tourism sector.
2. Getting employed in the Tourism Department of the Government of India and Government of Karnataka.
3. Getting employed in Travel Agencies and Transport Sector including Airlines.
4. Employment opportunities in hospitality industry.

Future Plans

We plan to tie-up with a number of academic institutions and companies / firms in tourism industry to give sufficient exposure to students in the course of their study. Efforts are on to provide practical training in a tourism industry for 12 weeks at the end of the course either in Europe or in South East Asian countries.

With the active co-operation from the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka and the University of Mysore, it will be the earnest endeavor of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College to provide the required input to the students to who aspire to become highly rated professionals in the field of Tourism.
